What was supposed to be a calm offseason for the Oklahoma City Thunder quickly turned out to one of the busiest summers in Thunder history.
Every NBA fan has been waiting on the news about where Kawhi Leonard was going to end up and last night, we got the answer. And more.
After getting the news that Kawhi Leonard committed to the Los Angeles Clippers, a lot of people were in shock, mostly because of all reports that hinted towards a move to either the Lakers or back to the Raptors.
However, there was a reason for his commitment.
Woj dropped another bomb. The Thunder have traded Paul George to the Clippers for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, 5 first round picks (4 unprotected and 1 protected) and two pick swaps.
What does this mean for the Thunder?
This really came out of nowhere for pretty much everyone. This was supposed to be a very quiet offseason for the Thunder that turned out to most likely be the end of an era and a start of a new one. The Thunder have a couple of different options. They could tear it down completely. Trade Russell Westbrook, Dennis Schröder, maybe Steven Adams. Or they could try to acquire another star player with the picks they got in the Paul George trade, which seems unlikely at this point. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Presti goes from here.
